After about an hour everyone was awake, but there were still no signs of Flash Drive. I was still constantly staring out the window hoping she might walk up soon.
"Chill out." Acidic Venom told for about the hundredth time. "She's coming on foot, I'm sure It will be at least another two days. Probably more though."
"I know. You know how I am though. I get anxious, and rack my nervous over everything." I countered.
Venom just sighed, and left me alone to go teach the others a little hand to hand combat. I just continued to sit on the bench outside the bed and breakfast, and wait.
I had got my notebook out was reviewing some of my old poetry. I always had this book packed away somewhere safe by my side, there was no way I would ever leave this behind. It contained all my poetry that I had ever written since discovering my love of writing a year or so ago.
At that moment I had an idea for a poem, and quickly started scratching the words onto the paper as they entered my thoughts. Whenever I wrote I felt kind of possessed. The words just came to me so easily for the most part. Sometimes I had to think a little of how I would want to word something though. There was no other feeling in the world like it, and I loved it. It was my drug.
When I had finished writing, I reviewed my words. It was odd how whenever I finished I didn't even remember my own words.
'Broken roads
Show no tears
No love
Or anger
Only strength
Pure determination
I try to match
But break apart
How could one be so strong?
As to not give in
Not give up
It can't be human
I know it's not
Then why do I wish?
Why do I hope?'
The words had done their magic, and put my scenario into an abstract twist of reality. I couldn't think of a title right now. Maybe I'd figure one out later. Then again I probably wouldn't. I can't even tell you how many nameless poems I have.
I put my notebook back in my bag, and sighed. I knew I should do something instead of just sit here and wait.
I got up from the bench, and retrieved my bow and arrows from the back of the car. Whenever I was feeling like this shooting off a few quivers full of arrows made me feel better.
With my bow in hand and the quiver slung across my back I went around the back of the building to look for something to shoot at. Thankfully there were plenty of cardboard boxes, I just had to put them back into their box shapes.
When I finally had a target to shoot at, I backed up at least a dozen yards. I reached into my quiver and retrieved a single arrow, which I loaded onto the bow string. Standing sideways, I gripped the bow string above and below the arrow with the three middle fingers on my right hand. I pulled my arm back until my hand was a little further back than the end of my mouth. With one eye closed, I aimed at the center of the boxes, and let the arrow fly from my grasp.
I heard the arrow puncture the cardboard before I saw where exactly it had hit. When I finally did look, it was nearly dead center of all the boxes. I don't like to brag, but I am a pretty good shot, with both arrows and ray guns. I just prefer my arrows over my ray gun.
The sound of clapping accompanied my inner thoughts of approval. It was Radio Star, Beautiful Blood, and Electric Aftermath. They had taken a break from hand to hand combat training, and noticed me shooting.
"Would you mind teaching us how to do that?" Radio asked.
"Sure. It's not really something we would use in the field though." I said.
"Who cares, we're not doing anything better right now." Electric countered.
"True. So who's first?"
All their hands shoot up at once, and I just laughed at their eagerness.
For the majority of the afternoon I taught them all about how to shoot a bow and arrow. It was a lot of fun, and they were all pretty good. Beautiful was definitely the best though.
At around 6:00 in the evening we stopped to eat some dinner. We decided it would be best to eat power pup so we could start adjusting to that. Although for a little dessert we each had a couple of cookies that I had taken from my home.
By the time we had finished eating the sun had already really sunk completely below the horizon.
"Who wants first watch?" I asked.
"I've got it. Venom, would you mind staying up with me?" Radio asked.
"I'd probably be the last to fall asleep anyway, so why not." Venom answered her.
"Alright. I recommend that the rest of us try to get some sleep. We might be very grateful for getting extra sleep now."
Electric Aftermath gave me a smirk, because that's pretty much what she had told me this morning. We did all take the advice, and went to sleep though.
It wasn't until about twelve in the morning when I was woken up to do my watch. Venom shook me awake, and I moaned a little because I was sleeping pretty well. I did reluctantly get up, and go to watch within the minute.
Radio had apparently woken up Beautiful Blood a few minutes earlier to watch with me.
"So you're the next the victim of sleep deprivation?" She jokingly whispered to me.
"It doesn't bother me much. I am slightly surprised Venom took off though. She barely ever sleeps, so I don't see why it would be any different now." I whispered back.
"Radio forced talked her into it I think."
"Now that makes more sense."
We pretty much spent the rest of our watch in silence. It wasn't until close to four in the morning when we discussed anything else. Even then we were only trying to decide who should stay up with Electric Aftermath for her watch.
Obviously neither of us wanted to stay up any longer, and we didn't want it to be Radio Star or Acidic Venom because they had already done their watch. We couldn't just let Electric watch alone though because that wouldn't be safe.
"I'll just stay up with her. By the time I fall back asleep it won't be long until I need to wake up again. Maybe I can nap in the afternoon then." I said just wanting one of us to be able to sleep.
"Okay." Blood agreed probably thinking similarly to me. "I'll wake up Electric."
A couple minutes later Electric Aftermath joined me on the hood of the van to keep watch.
"You look terrible." Was the first thing out of her mouth. "How long have you been up?"
"Um, since midnight, I think." I really didn't know anymore.
"Just go to sleep Bomb."
"No. Someone has to stay up with you."
"Please. I'll wake you up if anyone or anything comes into sight."
"No."
Electric just sighed, and left it at that.
"I'm not trying to be a bad person here. I just don't want to leave anyone person on their own. Not after whatever happened to Battery Pony." I explained.
"I understand, but sleep is important." Electric tried to counter.
"It's not going to work."
"Oh, fine."
I spent another silent watch until the sun broke past the flat land and into the sky illuminating the land. It was a really beautiful sight. Seeing the darkness fade to grey. Then be streaked with orange, pink, and yellow until things finally settled to a light blue with the ever present sun hung in the middle of puffy white clouds.

To be continued...
